MacPhail's premier high school jazz combo, the Dakota Combo is an outstanding group of students selected through a live audition process. With generous support from the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education, this group will rehearse and perform at various Twin Cities venues throughout the school year and summer jazz festivals in June and early July.

Under the direction of jazz artist Adam Linz, rehearsals will be held every other Thursday throughout the 2018-2019 school year. Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 16 from 12:30-4:00 pm. Based in north Minneapolis, MNYO is full of enthusiastic musicians who participate in group rehearsals, sectionals, and bucket drumming. Games, movement, rhythm and listening will be incorporated to strengthen the children's piano playing skills.
